Ferociously fine-tuning finicky features
Another batch of screenshots from TVASurg production.
I try to think about composition for shots and sequences as I model.
I find accurate depictions of anatomical relationships are
even more important when you are working with 3D camera movement.

Monday morning modeling
A few screenshots of early-stage modelling of liver vasculature for TVASurg videos. Initial reconstructions are output from Myrian imaging software, http://intrasense.fr
in .obj format and retopologized in Cinema4D for use in animation.

New video on TVASurg.ca
Lots of work finally getting wrapped up lately. A new video has been uploaded to the Toronto Video Atlas of Surgery: Extended left hepatectomy with in situ cold perfusion.
A frame from the intro of this video was submitted as a cover illustration for the Biomedical Communications Alumni Association Spring 2013 newsletter.
Here are a few examples of storyboards from a video we did for a presentation at the University of Western Ontario. The case was a Segment 6/7 Donor transplant procedure. The final video will be uploaded to the site in a few weeks:

Life (drawing) after TSA...
I am very grateful to be a part of Toronto's figure drawing community, which is more prolific than I realized. A comprehensive list compiled by another blogger and life drawing enthusiast, Heather Leach, puts this in perspective. Many thanks to the hard-working artists keeping the life drawing scene in Toronto alive and well.
Here are a few examples from sketches done recently at Artist25 near Dundas and Lansdowne:
And here are a few recent sketches from former TSA instructor Mark Hazen's figure drawing sessions:

First Liver Surgery Video
Forgot to post this earlier. My first contribution to the Toronto Video Atlas of Liver, Pancreas and Transplant Surgery is finally uploaded! The procedure is a segment VI/VII resection (warning, lots of blood): http://pie.med.utoronto.ca/TVASurg/TVASurg_content/surg/PL_segment67resection.html
